The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS)
proposes to conduct a survey of felony case processing in a sample
of the nation's 75 most populous counties and examine overall
levels of court automation in a sample of the nation's 900 most
populous counties.

BJS redesigned the State Court
Processing Statistics program to incorporate alternative sampling
strategies and data collection methods, which will allow for
periodic modular enhancements of the program. Therefore, BJS will
collect aggregate information on the data systems and associated
capacities of courts representatives of the 900 most populous
counties.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
