FERC Form 580 collects information needed to comply with the requirements of Section 205(f) of the Federal Power Act for a review "not less frequently than every two years of practices... to insure efficient use of resources." The purpose of this infor- mation is to provide most of the data necessary to conduct the biennial review as mandated by law. In addition to fulfilling the statutory requirements, the data will also be used to (1 evaluate fuel costs individual rate filings, (2 review fuel costs passed through automatic fuel adjustment clauses, (3 initiate Commission action under Section 205(F0(3) of the Federal Power Act and .....

The change to the reporting burden is a one-time increase of 900 hours in order that respondents will be able to work with the new electronic interrogatory format. Other changes in the new format are offsetting as the Commission has eliminated several questions as noted in the supporting statement plus rewriting the instructions to provide greater ease to respondents.
