National banks file Call Reports
pursuant to 12 U.S.C. 161 and other statutes. The data are used to
evaluate and monitor the financial condition and earnings
performance of individual banks as well as the entire banking
industry. This submission involves adding two new items to the Call
Report for collecting data related to deposit insurance assessments
pursuant to changes made to the Federal Deposit Insurance Act
regarding the insurance of transaction accounts.
The change in burden consists
of a decrease in respondents due to the decrease in the number of
national banks and an increase in burden due to the additional
items added to the Call Report, resulting in an overall reduction
in burden.
