NON-SUBSTANTIVE CHANGE REQUEST FOR INFORMATION COLLECTION 3060-1147
The Federal Communication Commission is seeking a non-substantive change request for information collection 3060-1147 concerning the period in which wireless carriers must file the applicable exclusion reports. The subject rules require carriers to file a list of the exclusions that they are claiming from certain specific location accuracy requirements within 90 days following approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).1 The Commission received OMB approval for the information collection on March 30, 2011. Based on calculating the 90 day period from the OMB approval date, the due date for filing the exclusion reports would be June 28, 2011.
However, the Commission’s notice of the effective date of the rules containing the information collections was published in the Federal Register on April 28, 2011. Since the effective date was not published in the Federal Register until then, the Commission plans to extend the due date, i.e., the end of the 90 day period, by at least 30 but not more than 45 days, to provide the carriers more time to prepare and file the exclusion reports. This extension does not affect the burden hours or cost burden. They remain the same. The Commission’s announcement of a revised due date will be published in the Federal Register.
1 See 47 C.F.R. § 20.18(h)(1)(vi) (applying to carriers choosing network-based technologies); 47 C.F.R. § 20.18(h)(2)(iii) (applying to carriers choosing handset-based technologies).
