Motor vehicle manufacturers are
required to retain one copy of compliants, reports, and other
records of malfunctions on motor vehicle safety for period of 5
years from the date that they were generated or acquired by the
manufacturer.
The agency estimated a
reduction in the amount manufacturers of vehicles and equipment
(including tires and child restraint systems and trailers) that are
required to maintain records. As a result there was a reduction of
6,430 burden hours from the previous submission.
