In accordance
with 5 CFR 1320, the information collection is approved for three
years. The following terms of clearance apply: 1) DOE will
continue, consistent with the previous terms of clearance, the
presumption that monthly data is for internal use, but if made
public is caveated as preliminary/informal and subject to change,
2) DOE will continue to collect jobs data on a quarterly rather
than monthly basis; 3) DOE will evaluate whether monthly submission
of the remainder of the data is necessary and justified; and 4) DOE
will work directly with respondents prior to the resubmission of
the collection to accurately assess the burden estimate for the new
collection element added to this collection, a monthly count of
smart meter installations.

OE's Recovery Act Smart Grid grants
are new programs, authorized by the Energy Independence and
Security Act and funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act, which provides financial assistance to eligible entities to
make improvements in the US electric grid, to create and retain
jobs, and increase energy efficiency.
