Dear NAME,

A few days from now, you will receive a request in the mail to complete a survey for an important research project being conducted by Oregon State University. The survey addresses the experiences of past participants in activities associated with the interagency National Riparian Service Team’s “Creeks and Communities Strategy.” In an effort to accelerate cooperative riparian restoration and management, the National Riparian Service Team and State Riparian Teams facilitate a number of trainings and services in communities throughout the western United States. In particular, they offer:

        • Proper Functioning Condition (PFC) Riparian Assessment Training

        • Grazing Management for Riparian Areas Training

        • Site-Specific Riparian Assistance

According to our records, you participated in one or more of these trainings or assistance workshops between 2003 and 2010.

I am writing in advance because we have found many people like to know ahead of time that they will be contacted. This survey is part of a larger study conducted by Oregon State University on behalf of the National Riparian Service Team. This effort will help the team improve the trainings and assistance as well as understand how the “Creeks and Communities Strategy” has influenced participants, organizations, groups, communities, and riparian resources throughout the western United States since 2003.

Thank you for your time and thought. It is only with the help of people like you that our research can be successful.

Sincerely,

Lena Etuk
