ADDRESS

Dear NAME,

I am writing to ask your help in a study of past participants in the National Riparian Service Team’s (NRST) “Creeks and Communities Strategy." This study is part of an effort to understand how the Strategy has influenced participants, organizations, communities, and riparian resources throughout the western United States, since 2003. The National Riparian Service Team has contracted with faculty at Oregon State University to conduct this important research.

The NRST and State Riparian Teams facilitate a number of trainings and services in communities throughout the western United States in an effort to accelerate cooperative riparian restoration and management. In particular, they offer:

        • Proper Functioning Condition (PFC) Riparian Assessment Training

        • Grazing Management for Riparian Areas Training

        • Site-Specific Riparian Assistance

According to our records, you participated in one or more of these offerings between 2003 and 2010.

We are contacting a random sample of past participants in order to learn about their experiences with the delivery, quality, value and usefulness of the products, information and services provided by the NRST and State Riparian Teams. In order for the results of this survey to accurately represent all past participants in the trainings and assistance, it is important that we hear from you.

Results of this survey will be sent directly to Oregon State University and all individual responses will be kept anonymous. Each individual survey will be assigned an identification code, which will be completely independent of the individual respondent’s identity. The raw data, minus any identifiers, will be provided to the National Riparian Service Team along with a summary report of findings.

Please fill out the enclosed survey and return it in the envelope provided. When you submit your completed survey, your name will be deleted from the mailing list and will not be connected to your answers in any way. Your participation in this study is voluntary and you may refuse to answer any question(s) for any reason. Your participation, however, is extremely valued.

If you have any questions about this survey please contact Lena Etuk, at Oregon State University, by phone at (541) 737-6121 or by email at [email protected].

We greatly appreciate your sharing your experiences and opinions.

Sincerely,

Lena Etuk
