ADDRESS

Dear ADDRESS,

About three weeks ago, I sent you a survey asking about your experiences as a past participant in the National Riparian Service Team’s Proper Functioning Condition training, Grazing Management for Riparian Areas training, or Site-Specific Assistance. To the best of my knowledge it has not been returned yet. In order for the results of this survey to accurately represent past training and assistance participants, it is important to hear from you. Please fill out the enclosed survey and return it in the envelope provided.

So far, surveys received from people show a range of experiences with riparian area assessment, monitoring, and management since taking the class, as well as a range of perceptions about communities and barriers to applying some of the skills learned in the trainings. Many have described their experiences, both good and bad, applying their riparian area assessment, management, and monitoring skills in their communities. The results are going to be very useful to the National Riparian Service Team in planning and designing future adaptations to the Creeks and Communities Strategy.

We are writing again because hearing from you is very important for getting accurate results. We are interested in hearing from a broad range of people who have participated in the trainings and assistance offered by the National Riparian Service Team and State Riparian Teams.

A comment on the survey procedures: A survey identification number is printed on the cover of the survey so that your name can be checked off the mailing list when it is returned. After the project ends, the list of names will be destroyed so that no one can connect individual participants to the survey results in any way. The National Riparian Service Team has contracted with faculty of Oregon State University to conduct this evaluation and results of this survey will be sent directly to Oregon State University. At the conclusion of the study, the raw data minus any identifiers will be provided to the team along with a summary report of findings.

If you have any questions about this survey please contact me at Oregon State University, by phone at (541) 737-6121 or by email at [email protected].

I greatly appreciate your sharing your experiences and opinions.

Sincerely,

Lena Etuk
