To assess the effectiveness of
NOAA/National Weather Service's (NWS) Tsunami Warning System, this
survey is needed to gather specific feedback following testing of
the associated NWS communications systems. Tests are planned
annually March/April and September. Post-test feedback will be
requested from emergency managers, the media, law enforcement
officials, local government agencies/officials, and the general
public. This is a web-based survey. Responses will be solicited for
a limited period immediately following completion of this test, not
to exceed seven days. This web-based survey will allow for
efficient collection of information regarding the effectiveness of
the Tsunami Warning System.
Adjustment: There are 75 fewer
responses and 6 fewer hours than estimated in the 2008 submission.
However, while responses have decreased (significantly decreasing
over the first three years of the survey, but in the last few
years, close to leveling off), we've learned over the past few
years that those who do respond to the survey (the vast majority
being members of the general public) give us very high quality
information. As mentioned in Question 3, many EMs continue to
prefer to give us unsolicited, but more in-depth, feedback.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of
these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked
