This submission includes all
information collection requirements used by FMCSA in support of the
Title 49 CFR part 375, Transportation of Household Goods in
Interstate Commerce, Consumer Protection Regulations. This
information collection request (ICR) is being revised due to a
Direct Final Rule (DFR) entitled, "Transportation of Household
Goods in Interstate Commerce; Consumer Protection Regulations:
Household Goods Motor Carrier Records Retention Requirements." The
DFR reduces the record retention period from three years to one
year that household goods (HHG) motor carriers must retain
documentation of an individual shipper's waiver of receipt of
printed copies of consumer protection materials. It also amends the
regulations to clarify that a HHG motor carrier is not be required
to retain waiver documentation from any individual shippers for
whom the carrier does not actually provide services.
This revision resulted in a
program adjustment decrease of 31,900 estimated annual burden hours
[5,524,500 proposed estimated annual burden hours 5,556,400
currently approved estimated annual burden hours = -31,900] and a
decrease of $5,328,000 in estimated annual costs to respondents
[$4,516,000 proposed annual cost to respondents - $9,844,000
currently-approved annual cost to respondents = -$5,328,000].
