This is a survey of commercial fishing operations and for hire diving and fishing operations that operate in and around the current Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary (FGBNMS). Information will be obtained to assess the potential socioeconomic impacts of expanding the boundaries of the FGBNMS and potential research only areas. For this extension, we will interview the commercial fishing operations, as we did not have funding previously. We completed the other fishing businesses but will interview any that are new since the last round of interviews.

This is the continuation of a planned one-time survey. There was previously not funding for the commercial fishing survey. In addition, although the dive/snorkel and charter businesses were interviewed, we are now seeking to interview the few businesses that have opened since the first group of interviews.
