Other change** The Office of Postsecondary Education requests approval to make revisions to the College Affordability and Transparency List Explanation Form (CATEF). The collection of information in CATEF is necessary pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) Section 111, Part C (20 U.S.C. Ã??Ã+'?Ã??Ã,¢EURsÃ??Ã+',Ã??âEURsÃ?,Ã,§ 1015a) with the goal of increasing transparency of college tuition prices for consumers. Postsecondary institutions that have the highest percentage increases in tuition and fees or net price are required by the HEOA to provide additional information to the Secretary. CATEF collects that information to write an annual report to Congress which will be published on the College Navigator website. The report will summarize information on the major areas of institutionsÃ??Ã+'?Ã??âEURsÃ?,Ã,¢EUR(TM) budgets with the greatest cost increases, the explanations for these increases, and the steps institutions have been or will be taking towards reducing these costs This submission requests approval to simplify reporting associated with CATEF based on additional analysis by the Department and on feedback from reporting institutions. The Department estimates that burden will be reduced by 50% by reducing the number of fields in the instrument and by automatically pre-populating fields with data previously reported by the institution in IPEDS.
