Center for Education Statistics (NCES) within the lnstitute of Education Sciences (lES) ofthe U.S. Departmenl of
Education (ED), is a survey that focuses on childrcn's early school experiences beginning with kindergarten and
continuing through the fifth grade. lt includes the collection of data from parents, teachers, school administrators, and
non-parental c.are providers, as well as diaeci child assessments. Like its sister study, the Ea.ly Childhood Longitudinal
Study, Kindergarten Class of '1998-99 (ECLS-K), the ECLS-K:201 1 is exceptionally broad in ils scope and cove€ge of
child development, eafly leaming, and school progress, d|awing together information from multiple sources to pfovide
ri6hdataaboutthepopulationofchildrenwhowerekindergartne|sinthe20l0-llschoolyear.Thissubmission
requests an amendment to the prcviously approved (on 1012912012) ECLS-K:20'll Spring 2nd Grade Fuil Study, 3fd
Gmde Recruitmenl, and 3d and 4th grade Tracking clearance package (OlvlB# '1850-0750 v.1'1), specifically to simplify
the inslructional orcanization questionnaire that will be administered to school coordinalorc during the spring secondgaade full scale data colleclion. The revised, more skaightfoMard questions should make il easief for school
coofdinato6 to ansiwer them and result in the study obtaining betterquality, morc useful information. This fequest has
no associated change in respondent burden.
