Request for Approval under the “Generic Clearance for the Collection of Routine Customer Feedback” (OMB Control Number: 0412-0586; Expiration Date: 01/31/2017)

T ITLE OF INFORMATION COLLECTION: Survey Questions and Customer Feedback on the RI Fellows Online Platform

PURPOSE: The Agency, through the Global Development Lab, is spearheading the roll-out of the Research and Innovation Fellowships, as authorized under USAID’s mandate in the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended, and Presidential Policy Directive 6 (PPD-6). The plan is to host the online “matchmaking” platform on a third-party website using open-source software developed out of an existing mechanism used for the Presidential Innovation Fellowship program built by former Presidential Innovation Fellows (www.screendoor.io).

The Agency would like to survey participants in the program to gauge how the online platform was performing and their overall feedback on the program. This online survey will be implemented to collect, analyze, and interpret information. The feedback gathered through this generic clearance will be used to identify strengths and weaknesses in the current program and improve service delivery in the future. The solicitation of feedback will target specific areas including accessibility, user-friendliness, appropriateness, program success: whether connections were made, suggestions for improvement, and hurdles/barriers to use.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONDENTS:

The respondents for the survey are host institutions and student fellows who have participated in the RI Fellows online platform. The platform will provide the venue for developing country institutions and U.S. scholars to meet and network, and these same respondents are the targeted group for the customer survey.
