Section 623(k) of the Cable Television
Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992 ("1992 Cable Act")
requires the Commission to publish an annual statistical report on
average rates for basic cable service, cable programming service
and equipment. The report must compare the prices charged by cable
by systems subject to effective competition and those not subject
to effective competition. The price survey is intended to collect
data needed to prepare this report. This information collection is
being revised due to a small number of changes to the currently
approved questionnaire. The Commission edited question 19 of the
questionnaire in order to clarify the wording and also the
Commission added some additional instructions in Section B. These
changes did not impact on the burden estimate. The change in burden
is due to an increase in the number of effective competition cable
systems and associated increased variability in price
responses.
The Commission has adjusted the
number of respondents by +28, the number of responses by +28, and
the annual burden hours by +168. These adjustments are the result
of an increase in the number of effective competition cable systems
and the associated increased variability in price responses. There
are no program changes to this collection.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
