This submission does not seem to account for burden associated with collecting and sending specimens. In addition, there seems to be some duplicative reporting (reporting of the same incident by tower staff, pilots, and airport staff) and data entry that is not addressed in the supporting statement. It is not clear how FAA arrived at electronic reporting numbers. Prior to the next submission, FAA should address these questions in the supporting statement narrative and burden estimates.

Wildlife strike data are collected to develop standards and monitor hazards to aviation. Data identify wildlife strike control requirements and provide in service data on aircraft component failure. The FAA form 5200-7, Bird/Other Wildlife Strike Report, is most often completed by the pilot-in-charge of an aircraft involved in a wildlife collision or by Air Traffic Control Tower personnel, or other airline or airport personnel who have knowledge of the incident.
