Abstract: This ICR is being revised due to a Final Rule entitled, "Rescission of Quarterly Financial Reporting Requirements," that will eliminate the quarterly financial reporting requirements for certain for-hire motor carriers of passengers (Form MP-1). The report provide financial and operating data for motor carriers of passengers. The Federal government uses this information to assess the health of the industry and identify changes that may affect national transportation policy. The data also shows bus company financial stability and traffic.

Short Statement: The program change decrease of 2 annual hours [3 approved annual hours - 1 proposed annual hour is due to a final rule that will eliminate the quarterly financial reporting for certain for-hire motor carriers of passengers subject to this ICR. As a result of the elimination of the quarterly reporting requirement, each respondent is required to file one report per year. In accordance with 49 USC 14123(d), the final rule also streamlines the reporting requirement by eliminating in 49 CFR 369.4 the requirement to submit the annual report in duplicate.
