Teacher Background

 

This survey is being conducted in partnership with APS by REL Central, the federal education laboratory for this region. 
This work is intended to better understand current mentoring practices for new and probationary teachers and to help

improve support for these teachers. Taking part in this survey is completely voluntary and there will not be any penalty or 
loss of benefits if you decide not to complete the survey or to respond to a particular question. Completion of the survey, 
however, will make you eligible to receive a $25 stipend for your time. 
 
Information collected through the survey comes under the confidentiality and data protection requirements of the Institute 
of Education Sciences (The Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002, Title I, Part E, Section 183). Responses to this 
survey will be used for statistical purposes and reports prepared for the study will summarize findings across the sample 
and will not attempt to associate responses with a specific individual. All data from this survey will be collected by REL 
Central and personally identifiable information will not be shared with the district.

The following questions pertain to a "buddy" mentor that may have been assigned to work with you by the district. This 
"buddy" mentor is a current classroom teacher who likely teaches in your building. The following questions do NOT 
pertain to any mentoring you may receive from a retired, former APS educator, or from an instructional coach.
