Section 7(c)(2) of the Railroad
Retirement Act requires a financial interchange between the OASDHI
trust funds and the railroad retirement account. The collection
obtains gross earnings of railway employees on a 1% basis. The
information is used to determine the amount which would place the
OASDHI trust funds in the position they would have been if railroad
service had been covered by the Social Security and FIC
Acts.
The estimated overall burden
for this information collection is being increased by 106
responses, from 377 to 483 and by 16 burden hours, from 173 to 189
all essentially due to the greater use of the BA-11 (Internet)
version to provide negative reports that were previously contained
on Form G-440, Report Specifications Sheet. We have shown the
increase in the amount of responses and burden hours as an
adjustment.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
