EIA-886 collects data annually on alternative fueled vehicles (AFVs) made available, the distribution of AFVs in use, and alternative transportation fuels (ATFs) consumed. Data are used to track suppy and inventory for fleets in the following sectors: federal, state, local and municipal governments, electricity fuel providers, propane providers, natural gas providers and transit agencies. Data are used to satisfy public requests and to provide Congress with progress on the Energy Policy Act of 1992 objectives.
