The Foreign Trade Zones Act and
Regulations require an application from a firm or organization that
applies for foreign-trade zone (FTZ) status, for subzone status, or
for expansion of an existing zone. Applications must contain
detailed information on facilities, financing, operational plans,
proposed manufacturing operations, need, and economic impact. The
FTZ Board needs complete and accurate information because the Board
is required to make public interest determinations on FTZ
proposals.
The variance in burden hour
changes when compared to the previous approved ICR is due to a
change in both the number of applications received over the last 3
years as well as a change in the types of applications received. We
have seen an increased number of production notifications and minor
boundary modifications, but a decrease in waiver application
requests and new zone application requests.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of
