The United States Department of
Education will collect data through the National Student Loan Data
System from Federal Perkins Loan holders (or their servicers) and
Guaranty Agencies (GA) about Federal Perkins, Federal Family
Education, and William D. Ford Direct Student Loans to be used to
manage the federal student loan programs, develop policy, and
determine eligibility for programs under title IV of the Higher

In part because burden
calculations for enrollment reporting and GE reporting are now
assessed under different information collections, the total burden
has decreased by 96,082 hours. This adjustment is also due to
factors such as the burden for guaranty agencies decreasing as the
volume of loans has gone down and, many Perkins schools have opted
out of the Perkins Program and transferred their portfolio to the
Department.
