The Indian Education Formula Grant
(CFDA 84.060A) requires the annual submission of the application
from the local educational agency and/or tribe. The amount of each
applicant's award is determined by formula, based upon the reported
number of American Indian/Alaska Native students identified in the
application, the state per pupil expenditure, and the total
appropriation available. Applicants provide the data required for
funding electronically, and the Office of Indian Education (OIE) is
able to apply electronic tools to facilitate the review and
analysis leading to grant awards. The system has been named Formula
Grant Electronic Application System for Indian Education (EASIE),
and is located in the EDFacts System (ESS) website.
