By participating in the survey, you help ensure that we have reliable data on crime and victimization in our country. Much of this information is not available from police reports. Historically, less than half of victimizations reported in the survey are ever reported to police. Criminal justice professionals can use the survey results to improve their effectiveness in combating crime.
