The purpose of the plan requirements
is to enable State, local, and Indian Tribal governments to better
understand the risks they face from natural hazards and to make
decisions and take actions to reduce the risks from those hazards.
Implementation of planned, pre-identified, cost-effective
mitigation measures will streamline the disaster recovery process.
The mitigation plan is the demonstration of the goals, priorities,
and commitment to reduce risks from natural hazards and serves as a
guide for State, local, and Tribal decision makers as they commit
resources to reducing the effects of natural hazards.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
