This rule complies with a statutory
mandate under section 420 of the Rail Safety Improvement Act of
2008. The information collected under this final rule is used by
FRA to ensure that railroads operating camp cars comply with all of
the requirements of this regulation in order to protect the health
and safety of camp car occupants. Note: This collection of
information is mandatory under 49 CFR Part 228, and affects one
major or Class I railroad (Norfolk Southern). The information
collected under this regulation is used by FRA to ensure that the
affected railroad still using camp cars-- Norfolk Southern --
protects the health and safety of its camp car occupants by fully
complying with the requirements stipulated under Part 228. Both
reporting and record keeping information, including training
information, is collected on occasional basis under this
regulation. This present submission is a request for an extension
without change. Thus, there a no program changes or adjustments at
this time.
