This collection of information is mandatory under 49 CFR Part 228, and affects one major or Class I railroad (Norfolk Southern). The information collected under this regulation is used by FRA to ensure that the affected railroad still using camp cars-- Norfolk Southern -- protects the health and safety of its camp car occupants by fully complying with the requirements stipulated under Part 228. Both reporting and record keeping information, including training information, is collected on occasional basis under this regulation.

The current inventory exhibits a total burden of 1,043 hours while that of this requesting notice is 994 hours. FRA determined some of the estimates were not derived from PRA requirements, thus leading to the increased figures in the current inventory, which were decreased accordingly in this notice. The table under question 15 of the supporting justification provides specific information on any burden estimates that have changed from the previous submission.
