APHIS collects from individuals,
businesses, and state and foreign governments information related
to the importation and quarantine of foreign plant and plant
products entering the United States under the provisions of 7 CFR
319 and 352. The information is used to determine compliance with
the regulations and is necessary for preventing the introduction of
plant pests or entry of unauthorized plant or plant products into
the United States.
This reinstatement includes the
consolidation of 58 active information collections, 11 discontinued
information collections, and 4 information collections in the
approval process. It also includes 7,500 hours of projected new
annual burden. The program revised 7 CFR 319.56, streamlining the
section and simplifying the approval and notice process for new
commodities; new information collections for added commodities are
no longer required. To report new burden as it is accumulated, the
Program will send to OIRA periodic reports as non-substantive
changes to this information collection.
