This Information collection request
supports the deployment of the first "National Agriculture and Food
Defense Strategy (NAFDS) Survey.” This voluntary survey corresponds
to efforts by the (U.S.) Department of Health and Human Services,
Department of Agriculture, in coordination with the Department of
Homeland Security, to monitor progress as requested in the Food
Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), National Agriculture and Food
Defense Strategy report to Congress published in April 2015
[Section 108 – Public Law 111.353]. The goal of the survey is to
monitor and measure Federal and state partners’ progress in
specific food and agriculture defense goals, objectives, and key
initiatives as listed in the NAFDS from 2015 to Present. Survey
respondents will be selected from Federal and state food defense
leaders participating in USDA and FDA food defense related
cooperative agreements. Survey results will be included in a
follow-up NAFDS report to Congress in early 2019.
