(0535-0039) Hawaii Tropical Specialties Survey
NASS is currently approved to conduct the Hawaii Tropical Specialties Survey when funded. Bananas were not included since acreage and production data were collected in other federally funded surveys. Every five years, NASS conducts a program review following the completion of the Census of Agriculture. The banana estimating program were eliminated due to the program review. The Hawaii Department of Agriculture (HDOA) has entered into a cooperative agreement with NASS to conduct the Tropical Specialties Survey for crop year 2018. HDOA requested to add banana acreage, production, and sales information for crop year 2018 to the Tropical Specialties Surveys. Changes include:
Adding banana to the listing of tropical fruit on page one, and
Adding banana acreage, production, and sales questions to Section B of the questionnaire.
The average burden minutes for the Hawaii Tropical Specialties Survey will not change due to this addition. Operators included in the current target population and sample for the Tropical Specialties Survey also produce bananas
The revised questionnaire is loaded into the ROCIS system.
