Terms of Clearance: This form is only approved for two years due to non-compliance with the Government Paperwork Elimination Act. In the interim years between approvals, USCIS will work on allowing for electronic signatures and submission and will report back to OMB on ways it has worked to further streamline the collection and minimize the data fields requested.

Abstract: According to INA 213 and the proposed rule, it is within DHS’s discretion to permit the posting of a public charge bond. Therefore, if USCIS determines that a public charge bond is warranted, DHS will notify the alien that he or she may post a public charge bond with USCIS, and the bond amount.
