What you'll need to start
Before you start the test you will need the following:
Your DD214 and DD215 (if you have a DD215).
Your VA disability letter (if you have one). If you don't have a disability, that's okay. We still want
you to confirm your military service information.
Get your military service data
1. Sign into USAJOBS
2. Click Get started in the blue banner at the top of the page.
3. Answer each question- you'll come to a page that asks you to Share your military information
with USAJOBS.
4. Click Continue to VA.
5. Follow the prompts to sign into the VA.
6. Review the information on the My VA Information page.
7. After you verify your information on your My VA Information page click Next to see the what
Veterans' Preference and Special Hiring Authorities you are eligible to claim.
