The information on the Form N-600 is
necessary for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to
make a determination that the citizenship eligibility requirements
and conditions are met by the applicant
USCIS has removed the $85
biometric services fee, the biographic data elements, and the
requirement that all Form N-600 applicants submit biometrics. USCIS
has made several changes to the N-600 form and instructions to
clarify filing options, update information related to children born
via Assisted Reproductive Technology, add information for legal
guardians filing on behalf of a minor child, and update references
to certain sections of the INA. The full scope of the revisions is
available in the Tables of Changes submitted with this information
collection request. There is a decrease in the estimated annual
hour burden to respondents for this collection of information as a
result of the decrease in the estimated number of respondents.
However, the previous ROCIS entry did not include a separate IC for
Biometrics Submission respondent, hour, and cost burdens, even
though the Supporting Statement reflected these items. An IC to
account for Biometrics Submission has been added in this ICR;
therefore, the ICR appears to report an increase in the Annual Time
Burden. A comparison of the Supporting Statements provides accurate
information about the Biometrics Submission IC and related burdens,
and will reflect a decrease in the Annual Time Burden. There is a
decrease in the estimated annual cost burden to respondents for
this collection of information as a result of the decrease in the
estimated number of respondents.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of
these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked
and explain the reason in the Supporting Statement.
