Form D is required by law and is
designed to collect timely information on International portfolio
capital movements, including U.S. residents' holdings of, and
transactions in, financial derivatives contracts with foreign
residents. The information is used in the computation of the U.S.
balance of payments accounts and international investments
position, as well as in the formulation of U.S. International
financial and monetary policies.

The total overall decrease of
720 burden hours, to 3,480 from 4,200 currently carried in OMB's
Information Collection Inventory, and the total overall decrease of
24 responses, to 116 from 140 currently carried in OMB's
Information Collection Inventory, are both due solely to an
estimated decrease of 6 respondents, to 29 from 35 currently
carried in OMB's Information Collection Inventory, that has
occurred naturally since 2018..
