Abstract: Form D is required by law and is designed to collect timely information on International portfolio capital movements, including U.S. residents' holdings of, and transactions in, financial derivatives contracts with foreign residents. The information is used in the computation of the U.S. balance of payments accounts and international investment position, as well as in the formulation of U.S. International financial and monetary policies.

Short Statement: There will be an increase of 240 in total Form D burden hours to 3,720 as compared to the estimate of 3,480 currently carried in OMB's Information Collection Inventory. There will be an increase of 8 in the total number of responses to 124 as compared to the estimate of 116 currently carried in OMB's Information Collection Inventory. Both increases are due solely to an estimated increase of 2 respondents that has occurred naturally since 2021.
