When must information be submitted to the Coast Guard? |
An owner must submit information to the CG along with the user fee payment annually, per 46 CFR 2.10-20 & 2.10-101. |
How is the information submitted? |
User fee payments, along with the vessel name and its vessel identification number, can be sent by mail, fax or wire transfer to the CG. Special requests can be sent by mail, fax or electronically submitted by e-mail to the CG. For more details about payment options, visit— https://www.uscg.mil/fincen/VIF. |
What happens when complete information is received? |
The CG will update your record so that the vessel is eligible for inspection. |

The Coast Guard estimates that the average burden per response for this report varies per information collection--about 3 minutes to review a Payment Receipt Letter; 6 minutes to pay an Overseas Inspection, Foreign Tank Vessel or Foreign MODU fee; 9 minutes to pay a user fee; and up to 30 minutes to prepare and submit an Exemption, Waiver, Prepayment or Refund request.
