Abstract: This information collection is used to make personnel security determinations, including whether to grant a security clearance; to allow access to classified information, sensitive areas, and equipment; or to permit assignment to sensitive national security positions. The data may later be used as a part of a review process to evaluate continued eligibility for access to classified information or as evidence in legal proceedings. No changes have been made to the data collected by the SF 714, the format of the form, or the instructions. There are non-substantive changes in the Privacy Section of the form involving removal of rescinded statue and executive orders, as well as annotation of statute and executive orders that have been amended.
