The Supplement will collect data on food expenditures, food- assistance-program participation, food sufficiency, and adequacy of food access that will aid USDA in assessing and improving food assistance and nutrition programs and in monitoring the extent and severity of food insecurity in the U.S. ERS is requesting to renew this study for another three years.

The reduction in burden is due to the removal of a split panel test that was a separate data collection from the regular annual FSS data collection. The slit panel test was a one-time test that was used to assess the functioning of a redesigned survey instrument and the effect of revising some survey items on key outcomes of interest in 2020.
