The National Notifiable Diseases
Surveillance System (NNDSS) is the nation's public health
surveillance system used to monitor the occurrence and spread of
nationally notifiable conditions. The NNDSS facilitates the
submission and aggregation of case notification data voluntarily
submitted to CDC from 60 jurisdictions including health departments
in every U.S. state, New York City, Washington DC, 5 U.S.
territories, and 3 freely associated states. It is the official
source of statistics in the U.S. for nationally notifiable
conditions and CDC is the sole repository for these national,
population-based data. This Non-Substantive Change Request is
submitted for the addition of a new disease-specific data element
for Monkeypox.
A one-time addition of a data
element for monkeypox is added to aid in the understanding of the
effectiveness of the vaccine against monkeypox. This results in the
addition of 21 annual burden hours.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of
