Abstract: The information collection requires States agencies to issue a warning notice to withhold replacement electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards or a warning notice for excessive EBT card replacements for individual members of a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) household requesting four EBT cards in a 12-month period. These notices are being issued to educate SNAP recipients on use of the EBT card and to deter fraudulent activity.

Short Statement: This is a revision of a currently approved information collection; the current overall burden inventory for this information collection is 238,697 respondents (53 States and 238,644 Individuals/Households in the affected public), 22,989 total annual burden hours and 503,712 total annual responses. We are requesting 35,862.47 burden hours rounded to 35,863 (22,739.75 burden hours for individuals/households and 13,122.72 for State agencies) and 785,792 total annual responses (392,895.73 total annual responses for individuals/households and 392,895.73 total annual responses for State agencies rounded up to 392,896 for each affect public). This request reflects an increase by 12,873.47 total annual burden hours and an increase of 282,078.46 total annual responses rounded to 282,079. The revision reflects an adjustment due to the number of households contacting States who opt to follow our regulations at 274.6(b)(5) to withhold replacement cards, which requires some households to make contact with the State agency if they request excessive replacement cards.
