The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is seeking approval from OMB of this information collection request (ICR) for an extension with modification of its currently approved information collection for the Automated Vehicle Transparency & Engagement for Safe Testing (AV TEST) initiative. This initiative involves the collection of information for a safety information sharing initiative for testing in the United States of vehicles equipped with Automated Driving System (ADS, commonly referred to as âAVâ) technology. The voluntarily-provided information is collection on a digital platform on NHTSAâs website and published on NHTSAâs website to provide information about ADS testing to members of the public. The platform collects and provides information from States and local authorities about laws and guidelines for ADS operations and information about specific operations within the U.S. from ADS manufacturers and operators.
The annual burden has been adjusted from 2,520 to 2,270 hours (a decrease of 250 hours). The adjustment in burden hours is due to the reduction in the number of participants. The number of participants is less than the original estimate. However, the agency believes the annual hours per respondent has not changed.
