John,
Sharing the attached notes/comments regarding 310 coding with
recommended changes. Sharing as my QA team provided without any
edits. So, I may or may not agree with their comments/recommendations
I also had Keith (QC Manager) review the comments/recommendations.
He added the below information.
I’m okay with the additional nature codes and have no
recommendations for those.  I sort of disagree with removing any
nature codes.  Those don’t apply to Texas but they may apply to
other states.
My recommendation was about item 14, Cause, on the 380-1.  Code
7 (Information reported by a collateral contact is inaccurate) is
considered an agency error.  I believe it’s neither an agency nor
client error and a third category (collateral) should be created for
this.  It’s possible to even break it down further like for clients:
Collateral – non-fraud and Collateral – potential fraud).
Thanks again for including Texas in the discussion.

Thank you for agreeing to participate in our round table. We are looking to gather different
perspectives about the following topics:

•            General coding issues/concerns
•            Use of “Other” in nature and causal codes
•            Use of Local Agency Code (LAC)

The purpose of this project is to explore ways FNS can improve its data collection and analysis. As a
result of this virtual roundtable, and other efforts – including outreach to the Technical Advisory
Group and collaboration with our Regional Office staff, we hope to develop further guidance and
training to improve the coding of QC cases and obtain ideas for more long term improvements.
