This is a request to merge 1845-0171 the Prison Education Program (PEP) into 1845-0012 Electronic Application for Approval to Participate in Federal Student Aid Programs (e-App).While this will cumulatively add burden to
1845-0012, it will also include a reduction in burden in 1845-0171 and provide for greater ease of filing for the eligible institutions who wish to participate in the PEP. By fully utilizing the e-App institutions will not have to duplicate
information that is already in the e-App system and which would pre-populate in portions of the PEP section of the e-App. This will decrease the number of questions an institution has to answer in the combined e-App and PEP
application to 9. This will add one new yes or no question for all institutions to answer when utilizing the e-App. See the attached document which illustrates the steps for an institution to utilize the e-App to complete a PEP application.
