Under 34 USC 41303 and 28 USC 534,
this collection requests offense data from federal, state, county,
city, tribal, and territorial law enforcement agencies in order for
the FBI's UCR Program to serve as the national clearinghouse for
the collection and dissemination of crime data.
US Code:
28
USC 534 Name of Law: Acquisition, Preservation, and Exchange of
Identification Records; Appointment of Officials
The FBI’s UCR Program continues
the transition to collect data solely under NIBRS. Until the
transition is complete, updates and new submissions from those
agencies reporting via SRS are being accepted. As additional SRS
agencies complete the transition to NIBRS, it is expected that the
number of submissions and, subsequently, the annual burden hours
associated with this data collection, will steadily decline.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of
these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked
