Abstract: The Federal Trade Commission (“FTC” or “Commission”) is finalizing proposed amendments to its Standards for Safeguarding Customer Information (“Safeguards Rule”), 16 CFR part 314, which require financial institutions to report to the Commission a notification event where unencrypted customer information involving 500 or more consumers is acquired without authorization.
