This information collection is
necessary to facilitate the creation and use of a database to help
address the problem of unwanted calls to reassigned numbers. The
database will enable any caller to verify whether a number has been
reassigned before calling that number, and it will help consumers
avoid unwanted calls intended for others. Therefore, the Commission
is seeking OMB approval for a new collection and requests a new OMB
Control Number for the information burdens associated with the
Reassigned Numbers Database.
The 2023 information collection
submission was prepared after one year of database operation. The
database has experienced considerable growth in subscribership and
usage since that time. We now have four years of operational data
which brought about adjustments/increases to this collection as
follows: +256 to the annual number of respondents, +3,182 to the
annual number of responses, +2,128 to the annual burden hours.
