Part 50.55a of title 10 of the Code of
Federal Regulations (10 CFR), “Codes and Standards,” specifies
technical information and data to be provided to the NRC or
maintained by applicants and licensees so that the NRC may take
determinations necessary to protect the health and safety of the
public, in accordance with the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as
amended. The reporting and recordkeeping requirements contained in
10 CFR part 50.55a are mandatory for the affected licensees and
applicants.
Overall, the rule is estimated
to result in a net reduction in the information collection burden
by an estimated 3,590 hours. This burden reduction is associated
with the elimination of the 50.55a(g) requirements with the
one-time burden cost to prepare and implement the categorization
process and regularly review the categorization. Upon voluntary
implementation of Code Case N-752-2, a net savings in information
collection burden is expected.
