The Department's
request for continued approval of the OSHA 200 and 101 forms, and
the insorporation of the BLS' guidelines document into that
clearance is approved for use through December 1985. This approval
is for the Department July 1984 request as modified by BLS
Commissioner Norwood's letter to OMB of September 17, Paul Larson'
note of September 18, and subsequent telephone discussions with the
Department about the scope and term of the clearance.

THE OSH ACT REQUIRES EMPLOYERS TO
PREPARE AND MAINTAIN RECORDS OF OCCUPATIONAL INJURIES AND
ILLNESSES. THESE RECORDS ARE NECESSARY FOR CARRYING OUT THE
PURPOSES OF THE ACT. THEY ASSIST OSHA IN MAKING INSPECTIONS AND
INVESTIGATIONS, PROVIDE THE BASIS FOR A STATISTICAL PROGRAM, AND
RAISE AWARENESS OF EMPLOYEES AND EMPLOYERS TO WORKPLACE
HAZARDS.
