Abstract: TITLE 22 CFR, 51.8 REQUIRES APPLICANTS FOR PASSPORTS TO SUBMIT ANY PREVIOUS PASSPORT OR A SIGNED STATEMENT ABOUT ITS DISPOSITION IF IT IS LOST OR STOLEN AND EFFORTS TO RECOVER IT. THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE NEEDS THE INFORMATION TO DECIDE WHETHER TO ISSUE A NEW PASSPORT AND IF SO, WHETHER TO LIMIT VALIDITY AND ALSO USES THE INFORMATION TO INVESTIGATE PASSPORT FRAUD.
